The name CCMATH stands for call center mathematics. CCMATH is founded in 2005 by Ger Koole and Auke Pot. They believed that workforce management can be improved by applying advanced mathematical methods adapted to the particular problems of contact centers.
Their roots are at the Department of Mathematics of the VU University Amsterdam, where research on call centers has been undertaken for more than 15 years. The affiliated VU research group "Optimization of Business Processes" is one of the most prominent research groups in the world in the area of call centers.
